2nd Annual Nova Scotia Traditions Weekend
Once again, Kaitlin has been hard at work in preparation for the 2nd annual Nova Scotia Traditions Weekend! Last year’s event went so well, that it was meant to happen, again. Performers will include Andrea Beaton, Kimberley Fraser, and Troy MacGillivray, again. Joining them will be special guest, Nuala Kennedy, of Dundalk, Co. Louth, Ireland. Nuala is a fantastic flute player in singer in both Irish and Scots Gaelic. She has performed with the other three musicians before in Cape Breton and the blend was amazing, so we’re very excited that she has agreed to come on this trip.
Events for the weekend of April 11th and 12th will include a ceili, workshops, and a concert- all at the ICHC in Milwaukee. For more information, tickets, and registration forms, please go to www.ichc.net. Look under “events.” Please mark your calendar for this wonderful event!
Also, if you live in northern Wisconsin, there will be another opportunity to see the concert on April 20th at the Chestnut Avenue Center for the Arts in Marshfield. For details, go to www.chestnutarts.org, or call (715) 389-8999 for tickets.

Benefit for Cape Breton Fiddler, Jerry Holland
Kaitlin recently received some news that a fellow fiddling friend, Jerry Holland, was diagnosed with cancer. Being that the summer is when he makes his year’s income, the news could not have come at a worse time. To help him out, Kaitlin has set up a benefit for him at The Pub, in Oconomowoc, on Monday, July 2nd. Dinner will be served from 5:00 to 9:00 PM and 20% of sales will be donated to Jerry. There is also a suggested donation of $5 per person. Reservations must be made in advance. A session will begin between 6:00 and 6:30, so bring your instrument! Special thanks to Aelred Gannon, the proprietor, for his generosity.
For more information on Jerry’s condition, please visit www.jerryhollandfund.org. For information about The Pub, please visit www.aelredspub.com.

Nova Scotia Traditions Weekend
Kaitlin has been working on a very exciting cultural exchange project these last few months! Come enjoy the finished product at the Nova Scotia Traditions Weekend. On February 10th, multitalented Andrea Beaton, Kimberley Fraser, and Troy MacGillivray will give a concert at the Irish Cultural and Heritage Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (Atlantic Wave will open for them!). Then, on Sunday, February 11th, the three Nova Scotia artists will teach workshops in fiddle, dance, and piano/accompaniment. Following the workshops, they will play for a dance. The workshops and dance will be held at the Irish Fest Center in Wauwatosa. For more information and workshop registration, click here. Hope you can make it to this wonderful event!
